The Advantages Of Recording Yourself In English
Recording yourself speaking English is one of the most effective ways to improve pronunciation, fluency and speaking confidence, and of the many steps you can take to improve your English fluency, this one might be something you haven't considered!
Just the thought of this might be terrifying for a lot of people, but it actually has a lot of benefits.
So How Does Recording Yourself Help?
Firstly, you might be able to hear mistakes that you had previously missed, and you may be more likely to notice pronunciation errors.
You can also use it as a way to monitor your progress by recording the same thing over a period of time.
And if nothing else, the whole activity will make you feel more brave, and definitely more confident to speak!
Top Tip
Follow the transcript of a TED Talk and record yourself reading some of it.
Then listen to the original video and compare, especially focusing on pronunciation, intonation and sentence stress.
There are also variations of this, such as listening to the video first to focus on the pronunciation, and then recording yourself saying it in the same way.
